The Education Bureau has launched the "One-off Subsidy for Promoting Chinese Culture Experience Activities" to support public schools in Hong Kong and schools under the Direct Subsidy Scheme to organize diversified Chinese culture learning and experience activities to further enhance students' understanding, appreciation and cultural confidence of Chinese culture. Each eligible school will receive a subsidy of NT$300, 000 to develop curriculum, learning and teaching resources and cultural experience activities.
What is the one-off subsidy for promoting Chinese cultural experience activities?
The one-off subsidy for promoting Chinese cultural experience activities is a special subsidy issued by the Education Bureau to all public sector schools and schools under the Direct Subsidy Scheme in Hong Kong. It encourages schools to enhance students’ understanding and interest in Chinese culture through diversified experience activities, interdisciplinary learning and school-based curriculum design.
Funding amount
Each school is HK$300, 000. Schools do not need to apply separately. The Education Bureau has already distributed relevant subsidies to eligible schools.
Use period
Can be used across academic years until the end of the 2026/27 academic year
Balance can be held until August 31, 2027

What activities can the one-off subsidy for promoting Chinese cultural experience activities be used for?
• Procurement and development of Chinese culture learning and teaching resources, such as books, multimedia and electronic teaching resources, to enhance students’ interest in learning Chinese culture;
• Organize learning/experience activities or lectures for undergraduate and interdisciplinary students about Chinese culture (such as holding Chinese Culture Week/Cultural Day; arranging various study courses such as calligraphy, Chinese painting, tea art, recitation, Cantonese opera, Chinese music, Chinese dance; organizing lectures/reading clubs with Chinese culture as the theme)

• Organize or sponsor students to participate in local or mainland joint school activities or competitions related to Chinese culture;
• Organize or sponsor students to participate in local cultural study tours or visits;
• Develop curricula on Chinese culture;
• Sponsor students and accompanying teachers to travel to the mainland to participate in exchange activities related to Chinese culture.
